Accreditation Award

The following Accreditation awards may be granted by the MSQH:

Three-year Accreditation

Three-year Accreditation is awarded to those facilities, which in the opinion of MSQH, substantially comply with the standards published by MSQH. It should be noted that the healthcare facility must achieve substantial compliance with the Safety Standard to achieve three-year Accreditation.

One-year Accreditation

One-year Accreditation is awarded to those facilities that meet most of the standards. Facilities awarded one year are required, at the time of focus survey, to have sufficiently met the standards to obtain the three-year award. All facilities that receive a one-year award are offered the opportunity to have a Focus Survey (see below). The focus survey only examines those areas of major deficiency in the facility, compliance to which will allow the other two-year award.

Non-Accreditation

Accreditation cannot be awarded if, on examining the Survey Report, the MSQH determines that a significant number of standards have not been met. Facilities are encouraged to implement the recommendations made in the Survey Report and to re-apply for survey. It is recommended for a minimum of twelve (12) months to lapse before the next survey is undertaken.
