MSQH Accreditation, pride of the hospital

MSQH awarded full three-year accreditation to Gleneagles Medical Centre (GMC) Penang and Penang Adventist Hospital, (PAH) making them the second and third private hospitals in Malaysia respectively, after Ampang Puteri Specialist Hospital, to achieve this prestigious status.

The full accreditation status is a result of the hospitals’ demonstrated compliance with the MSQH’s internationally recognised Hospital Accreditation Standards, following the Society onsite survey. The survey for GMC and PAH were conducted from 28th-30th October 2002 and 25th-27th November 2002 respectively . A full accreditation is effective for three years.

“Because strict compliance of the accreditation guidelines, we are now more systematic and organised and functioning as a team in our pursuit of quality care for our esteemed patients”, said Mr. Ronald Koh, General Manager of GMC.

Mr. Ted Jon Mohr, PAH’s Chief Executive Officer and President, called the accreditation, "a way to continue and improve quality through the eyes of an independent professional organisation”.

He added, “The patient and his family enter the hospital with significant knowledge and expectation of a positive outcome. MSQH offers Malaysian hospitals a way to be evaluated and recognised on international quality standards and present to all customers an independent view of quality healthcare. MSQH has impacted Penang Adventist in the following areas – more focus in our delivery of patient care, more conscious of patients’ safety, staff development and teamwork is more pronounced with better integration of services.”

MSQH’s Accreditation Certification is awarded in recognition of the hospital’s compliance with the Malaysian Hospital Accreditation Standards, which focuses on five key areas, namely organisation and management, human resource development, policies and procedures, facilities and equipment, quality improvement activities and safety requirements.
